‘Tis the season of giving, and sharing gifts with your friends adds joy to the holidays. But gift giving doesn’t have to be expensive to be special. Here are three inexpensive homemade gifts your friends will love!
- Scalloped scissors
Using scalloped scissors, cut four pieces of felt into 4” x 4” squares. Stitch together 2 squares (outsides of fabric facing outward), stitching 1/2” in around three sides of the square using a decorative stitch on a sewing machine or stitching by hand. Do same with other 2 squares. Fill both hand warmers with rice. Stitch the final end of both warmers closed.
Tie warmers together with holiday ribbon and a note saying: Heat in microwave for 40 seconds. Place warmers in mittens.
- 5” X 5” piece of tight weave fabric
- 10 drops of scented essential oil
- 4 Tbsp. rice
Mix rice and essential oil well. Lay fabric flat with inside of fabric facing upward. Place rice/oil mixture in center of fabric. Pull sides of fabric up and fasten with a tiny rubber band. Tie a decorative ribbon over the rubber band. Personalize by adding a decorative charm to the ribbon.
